Our little part of the world is greening again, and the Broadway Community Market season kickoff is this Saturday! More than a dozen vendors will be set up from 8:00 a.m. until noon, with live music and a pool pass giveaway. Fairydiddle Farm will be there, too!

I’ve been busy crocheting and knitting skillet handle covers, dish cloths, and market bags. The bags are a lot of fun to make, and I’m excited to bring them to the market on Saturday. I also potted up some lovely little aloe plants.

Although the garden is starting to look lush, most things still have some growing to do. I might have radishes in the next week or two, and the green onions likely won’t be far behind. The kale, though, planted almost as an afterthought, looks great, and I’ll probably have a few bunches at the market!

I’ll be posting weekly again now that the market is starting back up, so make sure you’ve signed up to receive email notifications so you don’t miss out on farm updates and what to expect at the market. You can also follow Fairydiddle Farm and the Broadway Community Market on Facebook.

See you at the market!

The holidays are upon us! To help you get ready, the Broadway Community Market is opening tomorrow afternoon for a special Thanksgiving and Holiday Market, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The forecast is calling for beautiful, warm, sunny weather, so come out and enjoy it! I have been having so much fun trying new crochet patterns in the past weeks to create items for host gifts, holiday gifts, or just a treat for yourself.

I’ve made cup cozies, which are stretchy and have buttons so they fit on a range of cups and mugs. I also finally tried a pattern I’ve had my eye on for coasters sets with handy baskets! In addition to those, I have a couple of Harry Potter-themed coaster sets as well. For the little ones on your list, I have a couple adorable fishbowl stuff-and-spill toys. And then to be festive, I whipped up a few mini stockings, which are the perfect size for gift cards, small gifts, or decorative greenery.

For your holiday feasts (or gifting!), I’ll also have heirloom butternut squash that I like putting in everything from soups to pies. And, of course, you might find a few last jars of dilly beans and garlic salt.

As if all that wasn’t enough, my mom and I are spending most of today baking … for you! Come by the the market at the Veterans Memorial Wall in Broadway tomorrow afternoon to find out what’s making our kitchens smell so good today.

See you at the market!

It feels like we’ve only just begun, yet here we are at the last market of the season. Come out tomorrow to visit your favorite vendors at the Broadway Community Market one last time, and stock up for winter! We’ll have sustainably grown produce, pasture-raised meat and eggs, crafts, prepared food, made-to-order food, and more.

I will have the very last of my garden’s tomatoes, possibly some jalapenos, and handmade items and notecards. If you haven’t seen them, my knitted and crocheted items include a pumpkin basket, Harry Potter scarf bookmarks, dish cloths, skillet handle covers, leaf coasters, and fishbowl stuff-and-spill toys.

Want a knitted or crocheted item that’s not on my table tomorrow? Let me know, and I might be able to work it up special for you! I’ve made baby bonnets, bibs, dish/face scrubbies, Swiffer covers, hats, reversible octopus toys, cup cozies, and more. Please be aware that projects tend to take about two weeks, depending on the size and intricacy and my time availability.

See you at the market!
